Savannah Ga Real Estate Series: Georgetown

Effingham%20County%20073.JPG Georgetown has been overlooked in the past few years with all the new development sites around Savannah. The older phase of Georgetown is showing its age, but many of these homes, built in the late 70s and 80s, are being renovated.

There are also new developments all throughout the Georgetown area, and in the back end there are some very beautiful homes, especially on Shore Road -- the new Habersham development promises to be special, too.

Georgetown was Savannah's first planned community. It's 1600 acres large and was developed in the 70s. It's one of the prime locations in Savannah. Home prices range from below $100,000 to over $700,000 for the deep-water properties (these properties are worth the considertion).  There are two clubhouses (another will be built at the habersham development, along with a dock for deepwater access), two pools, and tennis courts.

When people think of waterfront homes in Savannah, they forget Georgetown has some great waterfront properties.

The location is good too, being close to southside Savannah by going straight up Hwy 204, and the Veteran's Parkway is an easy shortcut to downtown Savannah. Plus it's only a few miles to the interstate I95.

There is shopping available at Georgetown and a couple of good restaurants. It's only five minutes to the Savannah Mall.

Traffic can get backed up at the entrance to Georgetown in the mornings and afternoons, but that seems to have improved lately. It's definitely an area to consider if you want to live slightly outside Savannah, but still be close to the action.
